James McGrath
Graduate Student Intern
Hi, I’m James–a Graduate Student at Lindenwood University working toward my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My journey into this field is deeply personal and purpose-driven. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Maryville University, I spent a decade navigating the fast-paced world of business, gaining experience in insurance, finance, and supply chain. While that work sharpened my skills in communication and problem-solving, I always knew my true calling was in mental health.
My passion lies in helping people grow, heal, and thrive. I specialize in a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy, creating a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where clients can explore their emotions, build self-confidence, and move toward meaningful change. My style is collaborative, empathetic and focused on you and your goals.
While I am passionate about all aspects of mental health, I have a special interest in performance anxiety–whether than means helping adults manage workplace pressure or supporting teens navigating academic or athletic stress. No matter where you are starting from, I’m here to walk alongside you.
