James McGrath
Before transitioning into counseling, I spent nearly a decade working in the corporate world, giving me firsthand experience with the pressures of work-life balance, career uncertainty, performance expectations, and the stress that can come with trying to keep it all together. That background continues to shape the way I connect with clients today and allows me to support individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, stress, perfectionism, and major life transitions.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Maryville University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lindenwood University. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, practical, genuine, and tailored to each individual’s needs.
I enjoy working with adolescents, college students, young professionals, athletes, and adults who may be struggling with self-doubt, confidence issues, stress, burnout, anxiety, or feeling stuck in different areas of life. I have a particular interest in helping clients challenge negative thought patterns, improve self-esteem, develop healthier coping skills, and create a better balance between work, relationships, personal life, and overall well-being.
I also value the connection between physical and mental health, including the important role of movement, and lifestyle habits can play in emotional wellness. My approach is grounded, supportive, and focused on helping clients develop practical tools they can apply in everyday life.
